I am totally new to the MAISA Units. The conference was very informative, but geared more toward people who were already immersed. I got a little lost trying to take everything in and put it in "the bigger picture." Where do the assignments, sample articles, etc. we were shown come from? Is there a collective site where all this is stored and catalogued for teachers to access----or is everyone on their own, per se, in collecting. Didn't get clear-cut response to this.
I replied to your email about this as well, but it is good for everyone to hear a refresher. All of the different Sessions from any unit are available on the central Atlas Rubric Page (found here). Be sure to select the COMMON CORE unit for the grade level you are searching for on the page. Once you are on the Unit design page for a given grade level (here is grade 11) you will see the Unit sequence calendar. Once you click on a given unit (here is grade 11 Launching the Writer's Notebook) you will see the Overview of the entire unit. If you scroll down to the very bottom in the lower left box called "Lesson Sequence you will find a link to the Sessions for a given unit (here is the Sequence for grade 11 Launching the Writer's Notebook). Also, in the lower right box called "Resources" you can find links and titles to various works referenced within the unit plan.
The only other materials you could use are other types of articles, texts, videos, films, etc. that are not listed on the Overview page or Individual Session. Those materials we have to catalog ourselves, and might use this site combined with Google Drive to do so!
I hope this answers your question, please let me know if I can help in another way!
Here is a piece from a letter I send home to parents. This is the section that deals with student self-selection and the fact that I have not read all of the books in my classroom library. Feel free to use, adapt, or ignore. Make sure you at least change the name part.... ;).
Hi all. Here is the year long unit progression (calendar) that I showed during our morning session today. Please keep in mind that we have used a different progression each of the 4 years we have been implementing MAISA Units. This is just ONE example. There are things I like about this calendar and things we'll have to adjust for next year based on what we learned this year. Also, there is a suggested progression on the Atlas Rubicon Oakland Schools site.

I think the link is broken?
They may have archived it already? I have a copy on my computer at home - I'll throw it in Google and put it back on here :-)
Here is the flyer for the Kent ISD Grammar Work Conference in August. It is free to attend, but you do need to register.
