It's great to have a collection of the mentor texts identified in a unit of study, but what if you don't have it, can't find it or it's too expensive or out of print! There are so many awesome books to use, how can you be sure you are selecting the best option? By identifying how the mentor text exemplifies craft, or offers an opportunity to apply a skill or strategy, one can consider favorite texts that meet the instructional need presented in a unit of study.
